History of Recipients for Belgium

2004: Louis BERGER

After an air force career during which he worked with air cadets in the holidays, this person created the Belgian Microlight Association, of which he is still president. For over 20 years he has trained new generations of microlight pilots. In addition to being Administrator and Vice President of his NAC, he represents his country at the FAI Microlight Commission and is on the Board of Europe Airsports as Vice President and Belgian delegate. He has made an outstanding contribution to microlight aviation.

2004: Elise DELNATTE

2003: André LITT

This Diploma is awarded for André Litt’s remarkable performances during a period of over 50 years, as a glider pilot both in Belgian national championships, and as a national record holder, as a gliding and powered flying instructor, and as administrator and work-horse of Royal Verviers Aviation.

2002: Jean-Pierre AWOUTERS

M. Jean-Pierre Awouters is extremely active in youth education and schools. He has devoted himself for over 20 years to aeromodelling, occupying a continuous series of varied administrative and sporting responsibilities. His initiatives to educate young people through this discipline of aeromodelling have been especially effective. He is the son of Richard Awouters, a 1972 Tissandier winner.

2002: Luc TRULLEMANS

The success of two round the world balloon flights and 4 Gordon Bennett Cup winners are largely due to Luc Trullemans intervention. The pilots themselves are the first to admit this. In recognition of his exceptional meteorological contribution to the success of world-class aerostatic achievements, Luc Trullemans richly deserves the Tissandier Diploma.

2001: Gaston PEETERS (+)

A brilliant glider pilot since 1963, and President of the Diest Aero Club for 25 years, Mr Peeters is recognised by the entire Belgian gliding community first and foremost for his exceptional qualities as an instructor (since 1966) and examiner (since 1984)

2001: Charles VANDERMEULEN

Mr Vandermeulen has committed himself during the last 20 years to defend the cause of microlight aviation. During the 14 years of his presidency of the Fédératiion Belge d’Aviation Microlégère, he introduced numerous innovations and initiatives, helping to develop this air sport into what it has become today
